Jun Miyake was born in Toyo’oka in Hyogo Japan.
He is a graduate of the An Jazz School of Kyoto. He studied woodwinds privately with Kenji Mori. He accomplished honors in flute study at Berklee College of Music with Matt Marvgulio. He piloted an ensemble that toured the Northeast named Groove Merchant in the late 1990’s. He later played regularly on the upper West Side of Manhattan in addition to making occasional re-visits to Japan, sharing his gifts with fellow musicians.


Jun Miyake has joined a new ensemble with noted Jazz drummer /educator Pheeroan akLaff. This project toured Japan in September of 2011, in August of 2012, in September of 2013.
In June,2012  He performed at The Vision Festival NY as the member of    Pheeroan akLaff-Dear Freedom Suite
with the world renowned poet Amiri Baraca.
In March 2014 He toured California as the member of Pheeroan Aklaff Trio.
In May 2014 He performed at Eric Dolphy Jazz Festival(Monclair,NJ) with Pheeroan Aklaff ,Jerome Harris, James Newton.

In November 2016, He toured to Inner Mongolia. Performed with the world famous Mongolian musician Delehei.

In 2017,2018,2019 Minnesota.Wisconsin Tour with Todd Harper group.

In July 2019 performed at Jamaica Downtown Jazz Festival as the member of Pheeroan akLaff group.

ln July 2021,performed at NY Vision Festival as the member of Pheeroan akLaff Liberation Unit.

on Nov.1st 2021 , Duo CD with Pheeroan akLaff,「Forest Ghost」has released from Modern Masters Records.          
showcasing Tenorsax,Flute,Noh-kan,Shakuhachi also world premiere Distortion Flute.


Mr. Miyake lives in Queens New York and teaches privately by appointment.

ジュン・ミヤケ：　兵庫県豊岡市出身
A.Nジャズスクール卒業後、名古屋にてサックスを森剣治氏に師事。
又　能管を藤田六郎兵衛氏より学ぶ。
ボストンバークリー音楽大学フルート科を経て、ボストン、ニューヨークを中心に様々なクラブにて
自己のバンド　Groove Merchantを率いて出演。
２００１年よりニューヨークのジャズクラブ　クレオパトラズ・ニードルにてレギュラーをつとめる。
また、ウエストビレッジのクラブ　ガレージ、ブルーノート、　又リンカーンセンター等で演奏。
現在はニューヨークを拠点に活動している。

日本では　What's New Record より　「Jun 」 ,  「Evolution」 の２枚のCDを発表。
また２００１年より毎年日本ツアーを行なっている。
共演、レコーディング歴としては、レジー・ワークマン、フェローン・アクラフ、ジェームズ・ニュートン、ジェローム・ハリス、アレックス・ブレーク、大野俊三、増尾義秋、小山太郎、井上陽介、井上智、日野皓正、ロニー・プラキシコ、バスター・ウィリアムズ等多岐に渡る。


２０１０年より、山下洋輔NYトリオや、セシル・テイラーグループ等のドラマーとして世界的に有名な
フェローン・アクラフグループのメンバーとなる。
２０１１年９月、２０１２年８月,２０１３年９月にはフェローン・アクラフDear Freedom Suite Trioのメンバーとして来日。
又　２０１２年６月には同グループのメンバーとして　詩人のアミリ・バラカをゲストに迎え
NY Vision Festival　に出演する。
2013年  Dear Freedom Suite Live in Japan Vol.1 CD 世界発売。
２０１４年３月　フェローン・アクラフトリオ　サンフランシスコツアー参加。４月EAST MEETS WEST ニューメキシコツアー。
同 5月 Eric Dolphy Jazz Festival (Montclair ,NJ) に於いて世界トップのジャズフルーティスト、ジェームズ・ニュートンと共に
フルートで出演を果たす。

2016年11月 内モンゴルの首都 呼和浩特におけるジャズコンサートに 日本人としては初めて出演。モンゴルの国際的音楽家 Delehei と共演する。
2017年 2018年 2019年 Todd Harper group ミネソタ・ウィスコンシンツアー。

2018年 フェローン・アクラフ Dear Freedom Suite Live at Yahagi CD 世界発売。

2019年 7月 フェローン・アクラフグループのメンバーとしてJamaica Downtown Jazz Festival 出演。

同11月　ジュン・ミヤケグループ　上海　中国ライブ。

2021年7月　フェローン・アクラフトリオのメンバーとしてNY Vision Festivalに出演。

2021年11月Modern Masters Recordsよりフェローン・アクラフとのデュオCD「Forest Ghost」発売。テナー・サックス、フルートの他に尺八、能管、さらにジャズ・フルートととしては世界初のディストーション・フルートも収録。
